How Buhari's Chief of Staff Purchased Helicopter for $22m, but the same Helicopter goes for $12m

In 2018, The Chief of staff of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Abba Kyari had approved the purchase of a one AW139 Military Helicopter for the Nigerian Navy worth of $22million.

The Company Messrs Leonardo Helicopters had participated in an emergency procurement bidding process under the intervention fund by the Federal Government of Nigeria and was successfully gotten the Presidential Approval for the award of contract for the procurement oa one No. AW139 helicopter for the Nigerian Navy.

The AW139 Military Helicopter was manufactured by AgustaWestland which took it first flight on 3rd February, 2001. The primary users of this helicopter are, Italian Air Force, Irish Air Corps and United Arab Emirates Air Force.

Research shows that the same type of Military Helicopter goes for between $5million to $12million in the market.
