Manchester United have reportedly reached an agreement for the transfer of Bruno Miguel Borges Fernandes from Sporting Lisbon.

According to an updated report from Gazzetta dello Sport, the 25-year-old has accepted a 5-year contract worth £100,000 per week - with the deal expected to finalize in the coming days. The transfer fee will be €60 million.

United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, has maintained the club would do all within their means to add to the exiting quality in the team, while still providing an avenue for academy products to blossom.

With Paul Pogba out injured after undergoing successful ankle surgery and the longterm absence of Scott McTominay, the need to reinforce the midfield has been prioritized.

There's a possibility Bruno might be handed the famous number 7 shirt at Old-Trafford when he arrives. The same jersey won by some of the best players to adorn the team's red and white.

A distinguished list which includes Cristiano Ronaldo - who joined Manchester United from Sporting in 2003 for £12 million, a record fee at the time for a player of his age (17).

Bruno Fernandez shaped his professional career in Italy, amassing Serie A totals of 119 matches and 15 goals for Udinese and Sampdoria after starting out at Novara in the Serie B.

In 2017 he signed with Sporting CP, being elected Primeira Liga Player of the Year in his first two seasons and winning the 2018–19 Taça de Portugal.

A senior international since 2017, Fernandes represented Portugal at the 2016 Summer Olympics and the 2018 World Cup.

Bruno Fernandes looked tearful after scoring a brace at the Estadio do Bonfirm In Sporting’s 3-1 defeat of Setubal on Saturday night in the Primera Liga.

In the same mold, Manchester United saw off a hapless Norwich team with two goals from Marcus Rashford and one each from Martial and Mason Greenwood.
